Griffon 2007:
Another 3rd place finish…
Wed. afternoon: Brown meets me at around 2. we hit the water and get flagged by McScotch and Boat Cover hitting it hard at the Jefe’s. catch up a bit before going out (awesome). Hit the back of west bay. I started toward the duck blinds in the back, while Brownie stayed deeper. Today the fish were deeper. I was trying this huge spinner Miller gave me…not a touch. Brown was hitting some good reds well behind me. I walked back to his depth and put on red/white, and started to catch. A lot of fish in this area. Never got to the back. Made a drift just north of Bennies North. Brown of course is goofing around, and lands a huge, fat 26” trout around 6 lbs easy.
I say goofing around, cause he let her swallow the BA to the gut, so she went home with us unfortunately. Gorgeous fish.
Next day, all the boys are ready to trip up to LC, hitting up north around 17. landed some nice trout to 20” on nortons and gulps. Hit a few spots on the way back, but nothing I can remember that special.
Friday back N in the dark…long trip…a bit zig zaggy cause the captain is stupid. Anyway, 2 at Munions and 2 at 17ish. Munions produced good trout and flounder, while 17 produced a good flounder and reds. Reds tailing in pods…tough to catch, but weedless G does the trick. Proceed south…nothing much until we hit red shore, with Paul behind Bennies south. Brown and Koll produce good reds to 27”, and Pauls snags a great trout (25 ish I think) on top. Day 1 lead with 37 lbs.
Sat. back to same pattern, better trip once the captain learned. Munions was off, with only 4 bites all morning. 17 produced one small red and trout. Very tough morning. Hit the wisemen, with reds packed up against shore. All 20” to 22” though, but a bunch of them. Proceed to red shore and BS, but RS didn’t produce like the day before. Bunch of dinks. Against BS was good, with 2 reds to 25” and a few decent trout. Never turned on like normal at RS, so we only had 25 or so lbs this day, perfect for our 3rd 3rd place finish in a row.
